This model of an AEC Mercury in 1:50 scale is by Corgi. When I perchased it, It was in the livery of Pollock Transport, Scotland. I stripped it down and repreyed it in the colours of David Brown & Sons from Shotts, Scotland. I used to see these trucks regularly delivering pigs to a bacon curers in Carlisle when I lived there as a lad many years ago. Unfortunatly David Brown & Sons ceased trading a few years ago. They had a fleet of AEC lorries and other makes on general and livestock transport which were always really well turned out, in immaculate clean condition even thought the livestock trucks were regular visitors to farms. This is one of a few models I intend to make from this company. I scratch built the livestock body, but requires staining a brown colour and some more detail to add.I have added a few extra details such as the decals, horse shoe on the grille which a most of this fleet seemed to have. A tackle box has also been fitted . The company decals were custom made for me which I'm delighted with.
